Alex Pedersen is an American software engineer and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of Egress Health, a startup that develops artificial intelligence agents to automate revenue cycle management for healthcare providers, with dental offices as its initial market. Egress Health was part of the Y Combinator Winter 2025 batch.[1]
Education
Pedersen holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Harvard University.[1]
Career
Prior to founding Egress Health, Pedersen worked as a software engineer at Microsoft. He subsequently held a software engineering role at OfficeTogether, a workplace management platform that was later acquired by Envoy.[1][2]
Pedersen co-founded Egress Health alongside Matthew Kiflu. The company was founded in 2022 and develops AI-driven automation tools targeting the revenue cycle management process in healthcare. Revenue cycle management covers the administrative and financial steps involved in tracking patient care from registration through final payment — a category that accounts for a significant portion of administrative overhead in the United States healthcare industry.[3]
Egress Health's platform focuses initially on dental offices, a market characterized by a high concentration of independent and small-group practices that often lack dedicated billing staff. The platform automates workflows including insurance eligibility verification, claims scrubbing, payment posting, and denial management. According to the company, customers are able to reduce administrative headcount by one to two full-time employees and collect between five and fifteen percent more revenue per month after implementing its tools. As of 2025, the platform had processed over 106,000 appointments.[3]
The company participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch. Egress Health has since been listed as acquired in Y Combinator's company directory; details regarding the acquiring entity, transaction terms, and timing had not been publicly disclosed as of early 2026.[1]
